The MT91610 is a full-featured, programmable Subscriber Line Interface Circuit (SLIC) that delivers highly reliable ringing for telecommunications access applications. It uses an advanced ringing architecture to improve performance, while integrating complete functionality into a very compact, off-the-shelf device. An analog silicon-ringing SLIC, the device supports the growing number of applications that require balanced and localized ringing, including PBX, key telephone, pair gain, digital loop carrier, home gateway, SOHO, and remote access systems. It also offers a system-level solution when combined with the company's DAA, CODEC, switching and DTMF technology.

The SLIC provides a complete line card interface between a switching system and a telephone line. Using sine-wave ringing in excess of 70VRMS, the device provides good ringing capabilities. It supports battery feed, user-definable line and network balance impedance, and off-chip audio gain programming. With loop lengths up to 2000 W, the device increases flexibility and ease of manufacture for customers who are designing access equipment that ranges from low-featured PBXs to high-end digital loop carriers. The SLIC goes into power-down mode when not in use to reduce power consumption in short-loop applications such as pair gain and wireless local loop. With on-hook transmission and tip ring reversal, the device accommodates DID signaling in PBX and CLID applications. The device also offers unbalanced detection to provide superior detection in applications requiring ground start.
