The founders, previously, had established the first commercialization of Light Pens using solid state photodetectors in the industry, in 1967. The following 15 plus years of high volume Light Pen design, manufacturing, and market experience, provided the ideal basis for establishing INTERACTIVE Computer Products, Inc., as the leading manufacturer of Light Pens in the industry.

The advent of the IBM PC and Apple computers in the early 1980's, provided an additional impetus for the emerging company. INTERACTIVE quickly established itself as the leader in innovation for both the OEM market and the developing personal computer market.
