BetzDearborn's Turboline FS100 Introduced This Month

HOUSTON—Imagine pulling into the gas station in your brand-new automobile. You need to fill the gas tank but which of the three fuels do you select? The low-octane, less-expensive fuel, something in the mid-price range, or do you pay a premium to gain the benefit of high performance additives and detergents? After all, you want to take good care of your new dream car.

It's not so hard to imagine—we fill up our cars every day with gasoline and performance additives. Now take that same scenario and apply it to fueling your personal or corporate aircraft. Well, that day is here.

This month, Hammonds Fuel Additives, Inc. is proud to offer BetzDearborn's Turboline FS100, the latest addition to their complete line of aviation fuel additives and fuel quality products.

Turboline FS100 is a high temperature fuel stabilizer and detergent additive designed to minimize carbon, or coke deposits, in turbine fuel and combustion systems. And, according to Hammonds company officials, it's the wave of the future.

"With the fuel refining processes as they are today," said Walter P. Chartrand, vice president and director of marketing for the company, "Additives are the only way to gain improved performance from your fuel."

Actually, according to Chartrand, Turboline FS100 is a multi-functional product formulated with the same proprietary BetzDearborn detergent technology used by the U.S. Air Force in the JP-8+100 program.

As aircraft maintenance professionals will tell you, jet fuel can undergo significant changes when exposed to increased temperatures. Chemical reactions take place that result in gum formation and even color change. When this happens over a period of time, the exposure can result in carbon or coke deposits on metal surfaces inside the engine. Soon, increased levels of carbon and soot are found in the exhaust. Turboline FS100 is designed to combat this problem by either stopping them, or minimizing the rate at which they occur. By doing so, the aircraft's engine operates as designed, leading to better operational performance.

"Simply stated, Turboline FS100 cleans up jet fuel and improves aircraft engine performance, much like premium gasoline additive packages do to improve your automobile's performance," Chartrand said.

Turboline FS100 reduces maintenance intervals, lessening downtime for an aircraft, so it's less expensive to fly, Chartrand added.

Hammonds offers Turboline FS100 in 16-oz. packages, and five-gallon pails. The additive is already approved by GE, with approval pending in P&W engines.

"There is no other jet fuel additive on the market that can compete with Turboline FS100 in terms of its sheer cleaning power," said Chartrand. "Once a jet aircraft operator tries it, they'll see immediate benefit in cost savings, time savings, maintenance expenses and a real improvement in overall engine performance."

Hammonds Fuel Additives is a manufacturer of such well-known products as FIZZY Anti-Icing Additive, along with the popular Biobor JF fuel biocide, and other well-known fuel quality additives.
