Myrtle Beach, SC - AVX Corporation, a leading manufacturer of advanced passive components and connectors, has expanded the range of its successful tantalum multianode TPM Series capacitors with a new high capacitance 2200uF at 2.5V capacitor. Many of the latest integrated circuits, including power processors, are operating at voltages around 1V. This new 2.5V capacitor provides high capacitance and low ESR (18mW) for these very high performance power applications.

"Processor requirements usually demand a capacitance around 5000uF or above," said Dan Lane, marketing manager of tantalum products at AVX. "In the past, five 1000uF low ESR polymer capacitors would be needed to achieve the target specification in these circuits. The new 2200uF TPM capacitor can significantly reduce the component count to just three capacitors for this application, thereby achieving cost savings and reducing placement costs and board area, while delivering excellent stability in harsh environments."

Tantalum capacitors are known for the stability of parameters such as capacitance with voltage and time, high reliability, and clear filtering. Conventional tantalum capacitors using an MnO2 second electrode system offer long-term proven stability. This is important for middle and longer lifetime electronic devices such as telecommunication boards for base stations or networking infrastructure applications.

The TPM Series of capacitors is available up to 50VDC and with capacitance ranging from 10 to 2200uF. The TPM 2200uF capacitor comes in an E (7343) case size.
