1-GHz Motherboards For AMD And Intel CPUs
New SOYO motherboards designed for 1-GHz CPUs will all feature standard SDRAM and will include Ultra DMA 33/66 IDE ports for four IDE devices, a pair of USB ports, two serial ports, one parallel port, and enhanced PC health monitoring.
For AMD's new Athlon CPUs, SOYO will ship in April its new SY-K7VIA -- a 200-MHz system bus, Slot A-based, ATX footprint system board. The board, designed specifically for AMD's 1-GHz CPU's, features VIA's KX 133 AGP chipset.
The SY-K7VIA uses standard SDRAM, expandable to 1.5 Gbytes. Expansion slots will include five 32-bit PCI slots, one 16-bit ISA slot, one AGP slot, and one AMR (audio modem riser) slot.
SOYO will offer two new motherboards: the SY-7VCA in the ATX footprint, and the SY-7VCM in the MicroATX footprint-- for Intel's 1-GHz Pentium III, Socket 370 CPUs. Both feature VIA's 694X chipset, which has selectable front side system bus speeds of 66/100/133 MHz. The boards have also been designed to support SDRAM to give users a more cost-effective memory solution. The SY-7VCA is expandable to 1.5 Gbytes with three 168-pin SDRAM DIMM sockets while the SY-7CM is expandable to 1 Gbytes of SDRAM. Both boards also include an on board AC 97 CODEC to provide a software audio solution, and one audio/modem riser connector.
The SY-7VCA offers a number of expansion options with five 32-bit PCI slots, one 16-bit ISA slot and universal AGP slot with support for 1x/2x/4x mode graphics. The SY-7VCM features three 32-bit PCI slots, and an AGP slot with support to 4x mode.
All motherboards ship with a Symantec CD-ROM bundle including: Symantec Norton AntiVirus; Symantec Norton Ghost disk cloning software, and the Virtual Drive CD-ROM emulation application.
