APW Enclosure Systems Launches New Company

APW Enclosure Systems, a business unit of Applied Power Inc., announced that they have formed a new company called APW Electronic Solutions Inc. The new company will focus exclusively on the design and manufacture of enclosures, backplanes, and related electronics packaging products and systems for the telecommunications, networking and commercial, industrial and military electronics markets.

The announcement follows a series of strategic acquisitions of leading U.S. and international packaging and enclosure companies. The new organization now comprises two former business units of VERO Group PLC: VERO Electronics, Inc. in Wallingford, CT and VERO's Circuit Board Division located in Hedge End, UK. It also includes what was formerly Electronic Solutions in San Diego, CA, a company that, in turn, recently acquired Birtcher Corp. in El Monte, CA.

The newly formed APW Electronic Solutions will operate as a business unit of APW Enclosure Systems. APW Electronic Solutions will be led by Ray Barnard, who most recently served as the Managing Director for VERO's Circuit Board Division in Southampton, England. Barnard will oversee the new company's worldwide operations from UK headquarters in Hedge End, England.
