As technology continues to scale down device sizes, hot-carrier degradation becomes more of a limiting factor in circuit design. BTABERT is the industry standard hot-carrier simulation tool for simulating the effect of hot-carrier degradation on circuit performance.

Available in either a stand-alone version or a version integrated in Cadence's AnalogArtist environment, BTABERT uses degraded or "aged" models to simulate the age of each device in your SPICE netlist based upon actual circuit operating waveforms. Degraded circuit performance waveforms can then be calculated and overlayed with fresh waveforms for comparison.

If the AnalogArtist environment is used, BTABERT can backannotate which devices were responsible for circuit degradation. The user can then zero-in on specific parts of the circuit and redesign them for improved reliability.
