Clock Multiplier IC
The ICS501 Low Cost Oscillator (LOCO) from Integrated Circuit Systems is a clock multiplier IC that generates high-accuracy clock outputs up to 160 MHz from a lower frequency crystal input.
The ICS501 contains nine pin-selectable multipliers that are used to drive chips at a wide range of clock rates, from standard computer peripheral frequencies to the 155.52 MHz required for high-speed SONET telecommunications applications. A number of popular frequencies can be produced using the ICS501.
In an 8-pin SOIC package, the ICS501 and a standard input crystal occupy less total board space than a half-size can-type oscillator. The ICS501 utilizes ICS's phase-lock loop (PLL) clock synthesis circuitry with a low jitter measure and a zero ppm synthesis error in the output frequencies.
The ICS501 is available in either a 8-pin package or as bare die and operates at both 3.3 V and 5 V.
