Industry, Calif. -- January 20, 2002 -- Henkel Loctite Corporation has introduced an innovative and stable VOC-free, no-clean liquid flux, Loctite(R) Multicore(R) MF101 which eliminates both VOCs and lead from the wave and selective soldering processes. Compatible with both conventional and lead-free solder formulations, high activity MF101 is drop-in replacement for most spray fluxing processes for through-hole components.

This rosin-in-water suspension flux offers a wide process window and greatly reduced solder balling defects, minimizing both rework and production costs. MF101 can run standard leaded products and requires no transition to switch to lead-free processes. The flux withstands elevated lead-free processing temperatures and works well on a variety of metal finishes, including those with low solderability such as oxidized copper.

Non-flammable and safe, MF101 can be easily thinned with water, making it easier and less costly to work with than traditional fluxes. MF101 significantly improves wetting and topside fillet formation. This halide-free liquid flux passes stringent Bellcore SIR and J-STD-004 standards. Nitrogen is not required to ensure maximum effectiveness.
