IrDA Communications Devices
RPM800 Series IrDA-compatible 870 nm infrared communications devices are for laptop, cellphone, and digital still camera designs
N/Aes IrDA-compatible 870 nm infrared communications devices are for laptop, cellphone, and digital still camera designs. Vendor's existing RPM-800 lineup now includes the RPM800CB, the RPM-801CB, and the RPM-851A. All support IrDA v1.0 SIR specs for 115 kbit/second transmission. The '851A includes an IR LED, a PIN photodiode, and a waveform shaping circuit--all in a single package. The '800CB and '801CB include a modulation/demodulation circuit that permits direct connection to a UART. The '800CB also includes an ASK modulator/demodulator. Typical standby current is less than 220 uA. A power-down mode reduces current draw to 0.1 uA when not in use. Operation is from 2.7 V to 5.5 V, letting you specify the same part in either 3 V or 5 V systems. Samples are priced between $4.70 and $8 each (at time of publication).
