Multiprocessor SHARC VME Boards
The VATEGRA family of multiprocessor SHARC boards provides up to 24 SHARC DSPs in a mother board and daughter board format. It is capable of yielding up to 2.88 GFLOPS performance in a single 6U VME slot, compliant with either IEEE 1101.2 Conduction Cooled or Air Cooled formats.
The board design exploits the full potential of the Analog Devices Inc. (ADI) SHARC DSP by using clusters of six ADSP-2106x devices, each with local SRAM and FLASH memory as the system's basic building block.
Each cluster of six SHARCs provides six link ports to give up to 240 Mbytes/sec data transfers between the adjacent cluster of SHARCs on the same board. Each cluster on the board then provides a further six link ports for the mother board/daughter board interconnection.
Similarly, there are up to 24 link ports (six/cluster) available at the front, providing interconnection of multiple boards and giving an aggregate transfer rate of up to 480 Mbytes/sec peak between multiple boards.
Data acquisition can be taken directly and simultaneously through the PCI bus on the P0 connector, VME64 interface and the SHARC link ports at the front panel or at the P2 connector.
Software support includes Radstone's own SHARC Executive for board installation and configuration, the standard ADI C complier and development tools and BIT software, as well as support from third party software vendors such as White Mountain and Eonic Systems who provide the VIRTUOSO RTOS.
