Nero And China Digital Telecom Join To Bring Next Generation Mobile Multimedia To China

Computex, Taiwan - Nero announced its partnership with China Digital Telecom, a distributor of cell phones and mobile devices in China, that will enable phone users to make inexpensive VoIP-based phone calls and enjoy their favorite multimedia content on mobile devices via the Nero SIPPS Mobile and Nero Mobile software offerings. The Nero products will be bundled with all China Digital Telecom phones and devices that support the software in July 2006.

China Digital Telecom controls 13-percent of the distribution of mobile electronics devices in China and has more than 500 retail store locations. In addition to offering consumers bundled Nero software, the company will also provide exclusive multimedia content encoded in the Nero Digital format that can be downloaded onto mobile devices at its retail locations. This special offering is available to consumers throughout the country, including the provinces of, Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Henan, Zhejiang, Shandong, Tianjin, Shanxi, Fujian, Hunan, Hubei, Shenyang, Liaoning, Guangzhou, Sichuan and Hefei.

Nero SIPPS Mobile provides free VoIP calls among service subscribers, as well as discounted prices for calls to fixed or mobile network phones. The software currently offers many telephony functions, including an address book with direct dialing, lists of dialed numbers and missed calls as well as personalized ring tones. Nero SIPPS Mobile supports Windows 2003 and Windows 2005 Mobile platforms, with porting to the Symbian operating system underway.

Nero Mobile allows users to browse, play and organize media (photos, audio and video clips) on a mobile phone or a PDA by streaming content from a home media center (e.g. Nero MediaHome) over the UPnP protocol. With it, users can also enjoy online Internet radio and TV broadcasts on their hand-held devices. It supports the latest codecs supported by Nero Digital, including MPEG-4 AVC / H.264 video and High Efficiency AAC v2 Audio, MP3, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 SP/ASP, Ogg Vorbis and many more. Nero Mobile supports Windows 2003 and Windows 2005 Mobile platforms, with porting to the Symbian operating system underway.
