Rockwell Settles Labor Dispute
Rockwell International Corporation and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 2295 have agreed to settle a strike that began May 28, 1998 at the Rockwell Semiconductor Systems operations facility in Newport Beach, Calif. Striking workers are expected back to work as soon as possible.
"We are pleased that an agreement has now been reached with the IBEW," said Dwight Decker, president of Rockwell Semiconductor Systems. "We believe the agreement addresses the needs of both parties."
Rockwell a global electronic controls and communications company involved in industrial automation, avionics and communications, and electronic commerce, announced in late June that it planned to spin off to shareowners its Semiconductor Systems business at calendar year end. Rockwell's continuing businesses will have projected fiscal 1998 sales of approximately $7 billion and 38,000 employees.
