Sheldahl Features Proprietary ComClad Family of High-Frequency Laminates and Circuits
Providing high-performance at a competitive price.
Sheldahl, Inc. , a leading producer of high-density and semiconductor substrates, advanced laminates, high-performance tapes and flexible printed circuits, will feature its newest ComClad high frequency laminate at PCS99 in New Orleans, September 21-24. The new product is the first of its kind to combine high-performance antenna capabilities at a lower initial and applied cost.
"Today's wireless applications continue to demand increased frequency performance at a competitive price point. Sheldahl's ability to combine high-volume production with advanced materials technology delivers customers greater economies of scale at an enhanced performance level," said ComClad's Product Manager, Randy Lia.
ComClad is ideal for use in the microwave and radio-frequency (RF) segments of the wireless market. This includes base stations, satellite communications, PCS antennas, two-way pagers, direct broadcast antennas, wireless LANs, wireless local loop, GPS, automotive collision avoidance radar and countless other applications.
Its strength lies in its ability to combine a low dielectric constant, with low loss factor materials. ComClad consists of Noryl plastic material as the base dielectric. This offers a completely homogenous dielectric, with a dielectric constant of 2.6. Its dissipation factor is 0.0025 making it an attractive low loss, low cost solution.
ComClad is in production at Sheldahl's Northfield facility and available in standard circuit board panel sizes of 12" X 18" and 18" X 24" with a variety of standard delectric thicknesses and copper cladding. Sheldahl's flexible manufacturing also allows for custom design of panel size, thickness and copper clad. The material is compatible with standard panel circuit board processing equipment; no retooling is required.
