Excess Bandwidth Corporation710 Symmetric DSL Processor is a two-chip set for the implementation of symmetric Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) network equipment.

Excess Bandwidth Corporation710 chipset supports two new symmetric DSL standards: HDSL2 and G.shdsl (ITU G.991.2). Both standards provide for high-speed, symmetric connectivity over a single twisted copper wire pair, while offering outstanding reach, stability, and robustness.

Excess Bandwidth designed the chipset for use in both central office DSL access multiplexer (DSLAM) equipment and customer premise devices.

The chipset extends the reach of the 1.5 Mbps HDSL2 standard to 18,000 feet. In systems designed for compliance with rate adaptive G.shdsl, its performance can effectively increase DSL coverage area by over 90 percent.

The two-chip set includes the EBS710 Digitally Tuned Analog Front End (AFE) and the EBS720 Symmetric DSL Processor. The EBS710 AFE provides analog-to-digital (A/D) and digital-to-analog (D/A) conversion, signal amplification, filtering, and clock synthesis functions.

The EBS720 and EBS710 chipset is priced at approximately $35 in 10,000 unit quantities (pricing at time of publication).
