Pulse introduces a new series of magnetics modules for 100 Mb LAN switches that incorporate Auto MDIX(1) data path self-correcting technology. These magnetic modules are designed to meet the symmetry requirements for transmit and receive channels to help manufacturers of network and connectivity products meet IEEE 802.3 and FCC emissions standards.

Symmetry refers to matching transceiver output characteristics on both the transmit and receive channels, a requirement for switches incorporating Auto MDIX. Each module in this new series provides this symmetrical transmit and receive capability.

Technical Information: Pulse's new series of parts includes the H1140, H1141 and the H1164. The H1140 provides eight isolated channels (four ports) with two common mode chokes per channel for superior electromagnetic interference suppression. The H1141 offers the same features but in a single-port configuration. The H1164 is designed with the transmit and receive common mode chokes on the line side and offers a common center-tap for each port, allowing designers to incorporate their traditional termination schemes used with multi-port modules in switch applications.

Approved for use with Level One's LXT9784 and Broadcom's BCM5226, each of the new designs offers 1500 Vrms safety isolation, excellent insertion loss, return loss and crosstalk performance. Additionally, open circuit inductance measures 350 µH minimum with an 8 mA bias.
