Issy-les-Moulineaux, France -- 16 December 2002 -- Wavecom SA (Nasdaq: WVCM; Nouveau Marché: 7306), the world's number one provider of integrated wireless modules, today announced the appointment of two additional key distributors in Italy and the Nordic region.

The appointment of Esco in Italy and ACTE in Scandinavia will allow Wavecom to expand its local customer base and strengthen support for existing customers in these two important regions. ACTE, a leading supplier of module, semi-conductor, power, electro-mechanical and passive products to a range of global companies, will be responsible for distributing all of Wavecom's products in the Scandinavian region, as well as providing on-the-ground customer support. Esco, one of Italy's most important electronic components companies, will act as a technological distributor selling Wavecom solutions and sponsoring the company's 'WISMO Within' program.

The appointment of the two new distributors is further evidence of Wavecom's determination to diversify its existing customer base. Since joining the roster of Wavecom distributors, ACTE and Esco have placed significant orders for WISMO products (60,000 and 130,000 units respectively). As leaders in their fields, the two new distributors' decision to work with Wavecom was influenced heavily by the company's leadership in GPRS/GSM wireless technology and its MUSE Platform considered as a unique business enabler, with Wavecom citing the companies' strong presence in key industry sectors and extensive local experience as key factors in their selection.

Charles Chaussonnier, Sales Director EMEA region at Wavecom, commenting on the appointment of ACTE and Esco, said: "The appointment of these industry-leading distribution partners underlines our stated intention of developing and penetrating machine-to-machine and automotive markets in key geographic regions around the world. Our ability to provide high quality service and local support to our customer base will remain paramount, and these new announcements will help us to ensure that we are able to do just this to keep our leading position."

Wavecom has a strong presence in both Italy and Scandinavia, numbering among its customers Magneti Marelli, Autoliv and Enermet.
